New Identity Forged from Tradition
(London, KY)–
What’s new after 22 years? For one local business, the answer is – almost everything!
On November 9th, Banners, Signs & Etc., Kentucky’s long-respected sign manufacturer committed to clients throughout Southeast Kentucky and beyond, announced today its most significant rebrand in its 22-year history. This includes an evolution in how it works with corporate brands to fulfill print and sign needs, an expansion of its product offerings, leveraging technological innovations that give customers easy ordering and quoting options, as well as a new brand name, Kentucky Sign Center, and a new web platform. It all started one year ago when founders Jay and Claudia Nolan selected Sign Biz, Inc. as their partner for expansion of their decades-old sign business.
Kentucky Sign Center, a division of J. Frank Publishing Inc., officially launched its new identity and re-opened for business on Monday, November 19th, welcoming Chamber members, customers and the public to their ribbon cutting ceremony at 2:00 pm that afternoon.
“For more than two decades, we’ve been blessed to serve this area with signs, banners and graphic services. We are so thankful to all our customers for helping us grow that we were inspired to do even more for them,” explains Claudia Nolan, Manager, Kentucky Sign Center.
New Identity
The visual identity crafted by artists at the Kentucky Sign Center reflects a nod to the iconic history of signage, and an embrace of the future.
Jay and Claudia Nolan are pictured here in April at the Sign Biz Network Gala, following the 2018 Sign Biz Convention offering education sessions that contribute to the evolution of sign businesses. The Nolans brought some of their sales staff, Colleen Jones, and Jantzen Garland. Jantzen was the newest team member, found through a new Sign Biz process for screening applicants.
Garland, Customer Service Supervisor, notes, “We are still located at 490 Moren Road, right at the corner of Hal Rogers Parkway and Moren Road in London. And we will keep our same phone number, (606) 864-SIGN. Our new web address is www.KentuckySignCenter.com.”
“It was the vision and dedication of the Nolans that brought them to this milestone,” explained Teresa M. Young, President / CEO of Sign Biz, Inc. Her organization provides education services and other resources to the world’s largest non-franchised sign chain. “In our preliminary goal-setting last October, we set a “stretch goal” of 20% increase in revenue. They achieved this goal in twelve months, a direct result of Jay and Claudia’s ability to execute on a plan.”
Part of the The Plan
As part of their vision and mission, the business joined the worldwide network of affiliated sign companies known as the Sign Biz Network. High standards must be met to become a Member of the organization and continuing education programs are a key benefit.
“What hasn’t changed? We are still a local, family-owned business. We will continue to provide discounts to churches, non-profits and veteran groups. But with help from the Sign Biz organization, we are taking things to the next level. Along with our name change to Kentucky Sign Center, we are enlarging our service area, adding installation services, and much more. It’s all so we can provide a bigger selection of products and services for our customers,” Claudia Nolan says. “The business also plans to do some remodeling and expand its customer show room later this year.”

Kentucky Sign Center gave free tours and awarded door prizes after the ribbon cutting on November 19th. In addition, the first 50 customers who placed an order with Kentucky Sign Center after the ribbon cutting receive a free gift with their purchase. Claudia adds, “We had a good turnout for the ribbon cutting and everyone stuck around afterward for a tour, refreshments, and print demonstration. We gave out 12×12 coro signs and they were a hit. We even got some orders today!”
The Sign Biz organization has served sign professionals, new entrepreneurs, and seasoned business owners since 1989. Established group buying power, technical and marketing support and resources, and on-demand coaching and education are some of the key benefits. About Kentucky Sign Center, Young adds, “Their years in business are complemented by a support structure that allows them to choose how to integrate products and services, while ensuring they have state of the art materials and knowledge to back them up. We are helping them build their ‘second story’ on a great foundation!”
