(Orlando, FL)– This year’s Sign Biz International Convention was one in a million, or actually, one in 25, celebrating the 25-Year Anniversary of the worldwide organization. 2014 also marks the 18th annual Sign Biz Sales Consultant of the Year Awards (SCOYAs). The SCOYAs spotlight the talents and successes of the country’s top sales producer in the Sign Biz Network, the sign industry’s largest chain of non-franchised sign companies. According to attendees, this event hosted in Florida just after the conclusion of the world’s largest sign tradeshow, the ISA Expo, was deemed “perfect.”

The awards were presented at the 25th Anniversary event hosted at Ruth’s Chris Steak House, where honorees received recognition at a gala ceremony attended by both business owners and industry dignitaries. This year’s program paid tribute to three sales consultants at a single Sign Biz Network Member location: The SignMan located in Nassau, Bahamas, owned by Peter and Kate Bates.
The purpose of the awards is to “honor both Network Members and their Sales Consultants who, as members of the entrepreneurial community, are providing a solid foundation for future economic growth,” explained Teresa M. Young, President/ CEO of Sign Biz Inc., the organization that hosts this annual convention for some 200 Member companies.
First Job She Ever Had
First, in the Newbie category, which honors sales consultants who have been employed in this capacity for less than six months, the New Sales Consultant of the Year award went to Pareece Moss. (Pictured (L) with Young)
Hired just last July, this was Moss’s first position out of school. In October, her 4th month on the job, she sold $14,085 worth of signs. “Pareece demonstrates a strong desire for success and is not afraid to take on some pretty large projects on behalf of her clients,” added Young.
Next, the First Runner-Up Sales Consultant of the Year award was won by Elena De Souza, also on staff at The SignMan. De Souza was previously honored in 2008 as a brand new rising star in sales, honorable mention in the New Sales Consultant of the Year category. She earned her award this year for average monthly sales of $47,644 and a peak month of $93,580.50. Nominated by Peter Bates, he wrote, “Elena has consistently strong sales due to excellent account management, and project management for large, key accounts. Elena is our Re-Branding Expert.”
“Accepting on behalf of Elena, who is settling into her new home with her new husband, is Omar Cartwright – future shareholder and director of Operations at The SignMan Company,” said Young, as she presented a hardwood plaque to Cartwright. Young explained, “We were extremely impressed with this year’s award nominees and their work truly represented some of the best new thinking.” (Omar Cartright, pictured above).
“The SignMan has been honored at many Sign Biz Conventions in the past for business milestones and for contributions to the Network. I am pleased to honor a third member of The SignMan team for extraordinary sales performance,” continued Young. “From over 200 companies, our three winners were found in the Bahamas!”

“It was clear that one nominee’s achievements stood out for the inspired ‘no limitations’ dedication, discipline and drive that garner success. This person achieved $98,288.87 in sales, for the month of August, 2013. So please join me in congratulating Norman Reiach, of The SignMan, as the 2014 Sales Consultant of the Year!” Accepting on his behalf was Patricia Cleare (Pictured, L), future shareholder and director of HR and comptroller at The SignMan. Reiach was nominated by Peter Bates who stated that he is dedicated to large lead follow-up and very detailed project estimating.
“Sign Biz Members know the value of sales consultants and we are delighted to honor these “spark plugs!”
